Oatstraw/ Oats.

Latin: Avena Sativa

Oats are an anti-depressant and a heart tonic. They are specific for exhausted nervous systems, burn out, chronic fatigue conditions, prolonged illness and convalescence.

They are nutritive, restorative, sustaining and strengthening and are able to build the body up, nourish and strengthen depressed states and nourish exhausted nerves. An exhausted nervous system will manifest in everyone differently, such as IBS, panic attacks, lack of focus, irritability, PMS, all of which oats will help with if stress and burn out is the root cause.

Due to its affinity for the nervous system it is specific for supporting the body after prolonged drug use in recovery and withdrawal from addictions including tobacco, sugar and harder drugs. They contain silicon making it healing for skin, connective tissue, mucosa and nerves, and make it an excellent tonic for children in their formative years with growing bones and teeth.

They are cooling and moistening and work on hot irritated skin conditions, such as eczema and dermatitis and can be used as a wash where soaps may aggravate it.
